It is quite obvious the Louisburg Wildcat Marching Band is one of the most prestigious and well instructed around. More than six months ago, with their Superhero theme chosen, the band began preparing for their halftime show performance, which is also the performance that must be perfected to the band director, John Cisetti’s, approval to be competition ready.

This past week on Oct. 15, the LHS band made their way toward Baldwin City, with high hopes and nerves running. The band mentally prepared themselves to give an award winning performance. As The band members walked onto the Baker Field with confidence, ultimately all of their hard worked paid off as they received a hard earned Division I rating.

However, there is always a thirst for more competition. The students proved to work well under pressure as they tweaked their performance  in preparation  to take on the field once again just three days later at K-State to compete against 40 of the most elite high school  bands across the state. With supportive family and friends gathered in Bill Snyder stadium, the Wildcats were ready to to give their all.

“This is one of the best shows of my 36 years teaching in Louisburg and our kids marched and played better than ever,” Cisetti, said.

As the Wildcats received their second Division I rating in less than a week, the feeling of accomplishment and a job well done lingered in each member’s heart. When the students arrived back to LHS, a congratulatory tail-gate was ready for them to celebrate their victories.

“We work really hard to prepare for our shows… To have received  high honors at two elite competitions is a great feeling,” Melody Herren, senior drum major, said.

The LHS band never fails to impress the community of Louisburg, and especially our student body. Congratulations to the LHS band on all of their accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing what you will achieve next as you continue to make our school proud.
